Nick Caldwell is a 2018 3B/RHP, 1B with a 6-3 205 lb. frame from Summerfield, NC who attends Wesleyan Christian Academy High School. Large, athletic frame with a strong, mature build. Posted a 7.35 time in the 60 yard dash. Primary third basemen, shorter arm action with good accuracy to bag and a top velocity of 80 mph. At the plate, started open and showed developing bat speed with some strength in swing. Stayed with the pitch well and showed ability to recognize spin. When barreled can show ability to drive the ball. Graded out better as a pitcher, longer arm action with extension down the mound and slight crossfire action. Fluid mechanics to both sides of the plate and ability to control 78-82 mph late sinking fastball. Mixed in 11-5 shaped curveball with depth. Good student.
