Sam Praytor is a 2017 C/IF with a 5-11 205 lb. frame from Helena, AL who attends Helena HS. Medium-Large frame with strong, athletic build and good projection remaining. Sets up to hit from slightly open stance with wider base, high hands and back elbow. Loads hands deep, shows excellent bat speed and the ability to be on time consistently, swings the bat hard with lots of intent. Big time power potential due to strength, bat speed, and launch angle; consistently drives the ball into the air with authority and big carry. Projects very well with both the hit and power tools. Worked out defensively at the catcher position, showing good footwork and body control through catch-and-throw mechanics, with a strong arm clocked up to 79 MPH and impressive pop times clocked as low as 1.84 seconds. Named to 2016 Southeast Top Prospect Showcase Top Prospect List, verbal commitment to Alabama.
