Antonio Lorenzo Gauthier is a 2018 3B/IF/OF with a 5-7 170 lb. frame from Lake Charles, LA who attends Alfred M. Barbe HS. Medium, athletic frame with broad shoulders and present physical strength proportioned throughout. Has twitch, ran a 7.20 60-yard but speed played up down the line and on bases due to instincts. Primary third baseman, fields the ball out front, shows a short and quick arm action with sound arm speed on throws across, gets on top and has accuracy, light actions on feet and repeats them well with athleticism. Quick to the ball in the outfield, similar short and compact arm action, works through the ball well and gets on top of the ball, very good accuracy to the intended base. Lefthanded hitter, begins with an upright stance and a high hand set in the box. Gets coiled well at start of swing and explodes shifting into contact, aggressive swing with quick hands, natural feel for the barrel. Solid present bat speed, able to drive the ball to either gap, remains short and quick to the ball with loud jump off the barrel. Very nice all around tool set to continue to build upon. Named to South Uncommitted Top Prospect List. Very good student.
