2006 Spring Top Prospect Showcase
Tyler Robbins is a 2007 MIF/C with a 6'0'', 190 lb. frame from Bettendorf IA, who attends Bettendorf HS. He has a live athletic body with some present strength. Robbins is a good runner with better game speed than the 7.05 he ran in the 60. He has quick feet with very good range at shortstop and showed speed and instincts on the bases during games. Robbins arm strength is short of ideal for shortstop but he charges the ball aggressively and gets rid of it quickly and made all the plays during the games. Offensively, Robbins has a short, line drive swing with bat speed and a simple, balanced approach that enables him to square up on the ball consistently to all fields. He surprised us with his pop when he drove the ball over the centerfielder's head and legged it out for an inside the park home run. Robbins is a performance player with very good baseball fundamentals and a solid approach to the game. He's also a good student.
