Austen Jones is a 2016 OF/2B with a 5-8 150 lb. frame from Austin, TX who attends Vandegrift. Medium, athletic build with a lean, projectable build and room to fill out with added strength. Ran a 7.20 60-yard dash. Primary outfielder, short arm action on throws, getting on top of the ball will help improve carry, moves well on feet, accurate throws to intended targets with strength. Right-handed hitter, starts with a high back elbow and keeps hand in at start of swing. Gets to front side early, gets the barrel through the zone and shows a feel to handle the barrel head. Creates line drive contact to the middle of the field with a compact swing which he repeats well. Outstanding student.
