Ray Beltran is a 2016 RHP/2B with a 5-8 128 lb. frame from Humble, TX who attends Atascocita HS. Shorter slim build, minimal present strength. Outstanding delivery mechanics, very balanced and direction, arm works easily and ball comes out smoothly, compact arm action and tight 3/4's arm slot. Mid-70's fastball, topped out at 77, has been 80 in the past, mostly straight, locates down in the zone. Curveball shows good spin and depth, needs to throw more and develop a change up to be effective. Should be a plus command pitcher moving forward. Good athleticism on defense, 7.16 runner. Simple rotational right handed swing, handles the barrel well, limited lower half use, opposite field contact approach. Hustling type of player, plays with a high motor. Good student.
