Tyler Currier is a 2018 C/RHP with a 5-6 180 lb. frame from Bourne, MA who attends St. John Paul II High School. Medium, broad shouldered build with present strength to frame, strong lower half. Primary catcher, compact actions behind the plate, gains short ground and remains upright at release, overall footwork will continue to develop, shorter arm action in the back and throws with a tight release from the ear, accurate throws down to second base, arm strength will continue to develop with additional lower half. Also pitched, gets tall on backside with a short leg lift below belt. Similar short and compact arm action, hides the ball well and works to a three-quarters arm slot. Balanced delivery with a steady tempo, short fading life to fastball up to 66 mph. Pitches to contact and throws strikes, induces weak contact, flashed a changeup at 61 mph. Righthanded hitter, begins with a high hand set in the box and uses a toe tap trigger for timing. Full swing path through the zone, contact approach with a line drive swing plane. Upper body dominant swing with a low effort path, additional lower half to swing will help unlock strength at point of contact. Very good student.
