Taylor Smith is a 2008 RHP/MIF with a 5'10'', 150 lb. frame from Ooltewah, Tennessee, who attends McCallie High School. Smith has a medium frame with athleticism. On the mound he throws from an over the top arm slot with good arm speed, and Smith has a good delivery with polished mechanics. The ball comes out of his hand well and shows projectable velocity. He works his fastball in an out at 83 mph with good running action. He uses his curveball well, and the pitch is very tough on left handed hitters. Smith has good projection on the mound. At the plate he hits from a narrow stance with a slight uppercut swing plane. He gets his hips turned well, and has the ability to hit to all fields. Defensively he has good balance when fielding and showed good range up the middle. He is also a very good student.
