Martin Matsumura is a 2018 LHP with a 6-0 150 lb. frame from Calabasas, CA who attends Oaks Christian HS. Medium, athletic frame with square shoulders and a young look, projects well with room to fill throughout frame. Primary lefthanded pitcher, begins with a leg lift just up past belt and does a nice job of getting tall on backside with a slight hip turn. Very short and compact arm action through the back, shows quickness to it while working to three-quarters arm slot. Front side occasionally goes early and causes fastball to miss arm side, when on top able to generate short running life down in the zone. Nice feel for changeup and threw for consistent strikes, generates nice fading life at 71 mph with release point and serves as put away pitch with two strikes. Flashed a 12-6 breaking ball in warmups. Developed consistent release point and was able to induce ground ball contact. Excellent student.
