Zion Pettigrew is a 2017 SS/3B/2B with a 6-1 175 lb. frame from Chicago, IL who attends Mount Carmel HS. Long and slender athletic build, lots of room to get stronger. 6.97 runner, has athletic actions in the middle infield, fields the ball out front with soft hands, has a short and quick arm action and gets on top of his throws well with carry across the diamond, quick transfers when he needs it, nothing flashy but solid and consistent. Right handed hitter, hits from a wide base with a low hand set, gets to his front side early, has quick hands, middle of the field contact approach, swings hard and impacts the ball. Verbal commitment to Iowa.
