William Stroud is a 2020 RHP/1B with a 6-2 190 lb. frame from Windermere, FL who attends Lake Highland Prep. Large frame with long limbs and wiry strength. Frame projects to support additional strength. Primary right handed pitcher with a simple side step to medium leg lift delivery. Stays tall and balanced on back side at gather. Worked to the plate with drop and drive actions. Clean arm circle at take back and released from a high three-quarters arm slot. Fastball produced some downward angle through the zone with occasional cut, topped at 78 miles per hour. Displayed good feel for fastball with the ability to consistently worked to each edge of the plate. Slider showed 10/5 shape with tight spin and late tilt in the upper 70's. Also showed a changeup offering in the low 70's. Consistently worked ahead of hitters in the count and showed the ability to pitch backwards when necessary. Also worked out defensively from first base showing quick, clean footwork while centering the baseball and pivoting to second base. Funnels out front with two hands and worked through exchange efficiently. Right handed hitter with an upright, event stance and simple front side trigger. Shifts into contact well with lower half. Clean hand path to baseball with a linear barrel plane through extension. Flashed some bat speed through the zone while looking to connect with baseball out front. Primarily utilized a mid field approach, but flashed the ability to turn the barrel and work to the pull side gap as well. Excellent student.
