Jake Skrine is a 2017 C/UT with a 6-1 185 lb. frame from Longmont, CO who attends Mead HS. Large frame, has present strength in build with even more room to get stronger at maturity. Right handed hitter, slightly open stance at setup, gets closed with large weight shift into contact. Aggressive approach, swings the bat hard, can impact the baseball when squared. Pull-oriented approach, line-drive swing plane, displayed solid feel for the barrel. Has quality hitting tools, should continue to improve with small adjustments, consistent utilization and timing of lower half. Primary catcher, has solid arm strength and was accurate on throws in workouts, popped as low as a 2.00. Also worked out in the infield, looked comfortable there with solid actions and quality throws, projects as a third baseman. Also worked out in the outfield, fields the ball deep, still developing consistent footwork, flashed solid arm, clocked up to 77 mph. Very good student.
