2016 National Underclass Showcase-Main Event
Daniel Cruz is a 2018 SS/3B with a 5-10 170 lb. frame from Miami, FL who attends Southwest Miami High School. Medium build and frame, athleticism, and room to continue to fill out physically and add strength. Posted a 7.23 time in the 60 yard dash. Primary shortstop, fielded out front and showed quicker transfer skills. Decent footwork to the ball with accuracy on throws and developing arm strength. At the plate, started with a tall stance, open base, high hand set, quiet load, and a simple leg lift timing mechanism. Used a middle of the field approach and showed raw ability to turn the barrel with occasional lift. Will improve with additional feel for timing of barrel release. Good student.
