Gavin Baird is a 2019 SS/RHP with a 5-7 155 lb. frame from Angleton, TX who attends Angleton High School. Very young player with a smaller build and frame with room to continue to grow and fill out physically. Posted a 7.43 time in the 60 yard dash. Primary shortstop, showed sound hands, played up-tempo with an over the top release and developing arm strength. At the plate, starts with a narrow, even base with a lower hand set. Showed a quick swing and hands that primarily works through his upper half. Somewhat longer bat path with a level swing and and developing timing. Would improve greatly with additional lower half involvement. Also pitched, showed a clean, simple arm action with drive in his lower half. Stayed compact and built momentum towards the plate. Fastball worked 73-75 mph with late run. Developing changeup at 66 mph with present feel for a 12/6 curveball at 67 mph. Very good student.
