Alexander Ericson is a 2019 RHP/3B, 1B with a 6-2 200 lb. frame from Canton, GA who attends Cherokee. Large frame with broad shoulders and a solid build. Primary right handed pitcher who worked exclusively from the stretch. Compact leg lift and stayed balanced on back side at gather. Utilized lower half well while driving in line to the plate. Loose arm circle and released from an extended three-quarters arm slot. Fastball had solid downward life out of hand and consistently located offering to each edge of the plate. Curveball had 9/4 shape with solid spin and good sweeping depth. Flashed tight depth when maintaining arm speed through extension. Consistently challenged hitters throughout each inning of work while effectively working ahead in the count. Also worked out defensively from first base showing smooth paced footwork while centering the baseball. Funnels out front cleanly and worked through exchange quickly. Flashed solid arm strength that produced accurate carry across the infield topping at 80 miles per hour. Right handed hitter with a balanced, even stance. Created some linear shift into contact with lower half. Loose, extended path to baseball and flashed some leverage at contact. Consistently barreled the baseball creating line drive, ground ball contact to the middle of the field. Good student as well.
