Jacob Mayo is a 2018 OF/IF with a 5-11 180 lb. frame from West Monroe, LA who attends St Frederick High School. Medium build and frame, athleticism, and room to continue to fill out physically and add strength. Posted a 7.30 time in the 60 yard dash. Primary outfielder, slow steps to the ball, longer arm action through the back, and out of the hand with cary. Showed very impressive arm strength to the bases up to 87 mph. At the plate, started with an open stance, high hand set, and a leg lift timing mechanism. Very quick, short swing with a direct hand path to the ball. Strength through the point of contact with a line drive swing plane. Good bat speed and barrel feel that translated well to games. Worked all fields with authority and drove the ball well with good feel to repeat. Also pitched, worked from the first base side of the rubber, side step start, closed landing, and threw from an tight three quarter arm slot. Repeated delivery well with good sinking action to his fastball at 71-74/76 mph. Filled the zone and pitched effectively in only inning of work. Good student.
