Jonny Gilligan is a 2023 SS/RHP, 3B, OF with a 5-10 170 lb. frame from Wayne, NJ who attends Passaic Co Tech. Medium overall build but lots of life to his movements with some nice twitch. Primary position IF, fielding the ball solidly out front funneling the ball deep and plays down in his legs nicely. Creates proper angles and comes through the routine play well, leading him to very strong, accurate throws across the diamond. He generated 86 mph velocity across the diamond with excellent carry. LHH using an even balanced stance displaying extremely quick hands and a compact swing plane. Knee to knee trigger starts his aggressive swing that impacts the ball with authority when on time and staying gap to gap. Secondary position RHP, working from the stretch only and working in a very linear delivery. High, loose leg lift to the chest where he loads very well over the rubber and gets excellent extension down the slope. Quick full arm path in the back into a 3/4 arm angle where he produces an explosive FB in the 85-88 mph range. So much life and sink on his FB it is tough to command at times and it produces plenty of swing and miss. His secondary pitch is a two-plane CB in the low-70's with abrupt, late break when he stays on top of it. There is a lot to dream on here and he should be a two-way position player candidate at the next level. Very good student.

Swing Efficiency™
Swing Efficiency™ is a score from 0-100 based on how fast you move your body compared to other players of a similar height and weight. Our library of over 10,000 hitters shows that for a given body type, higher swing efficiencies generate higher exit velos. PG All-American Arjun Nimmala may only weigh 170 lbs, but he can still hit 103MPH off a tee thanks to his elite Swing Efficiency™.
