John Locke is a 2016 SS/2B, RHP with a 6-4 175 lb. frame from Charlotte, NC who attends Mallard Creek. Large, long, frame, extremely projectable, slender build with plenty of room to add strength down the road. Primary infielder, moves well to the ball, has soft hands and gets into solid fielding position, with good bend for his size. Uses an extended arm-action with some stab and sling on the backside, solid arm strength and works through well with solid accuracy, up to 78 mph in defensive drills. Right handed hitter, wide base with bat wrapped start. High hands set, gets to solid fielding position at times with some bat speed. Hand path can be inconsistent, working around the ball, but when squared shows some jump off of the barrel to the gaps. Also pitches, has full arm-action and ran fastball up to 81 mph. Worked in curveball in the upper-60s, offering has depth and long, big break, shows the ability to locate for called strikes. Projectable build with solid athleticism, ran a 7.21 60-yard dash, has run in the low 7.00s in the past. Good student.
