Preston Bird is a 2019 C/RHP with a 5-11 180 lb. frame from Draper, UT who attends Jordan HS. Medium athletic build, has some present strength. Right handed hitter, spread straight leg stance, slightly open, downhill swing from a high hand set load, rotational arm generated swing, will flash some strength when squared up, handles the inside half better than the outside half. 7.25 runner, shows athleticism behind the plate, stays low and has very good flexibility in his lower half, accurate throw with some arm strength, 2.02 best pop time, can quick exchange/release to drop his throw times down a notch. Also pitched, slow to fast paced delivery mechanics, high energy at release, drop and drive delivery, stays on line with a long arm action and high 3/4's arm slot. Fastball topped out at 82 mph, ball comes out cleanly, occasional arm side run. Soft curveball has good spin and depth and 11/5 shape. Throws both pitches for strikes and has feel for his curveball. Nice all around athlete. Very good student.
