2006 Spring Top Prospect Showcase
Joey Rousseau is a 2007 OF/P/1B with a 5'11'', 192 lb. frame from Kearney NE, who attends Kearney HS. He has a square shouldered, strong build. Rousseau moves well for his size, running 7.16 in the 60 and showing good range and aggressiveness in the oufield. He has good fundamentals with the bat, using his hands well from a balanced stance and showing the ability to hit all types of pitches and go with the outside pitch to left field. Rousseau knew what to do with balls on the inside half and pulled some balls hard when he got a chance. He has a bit of pop in his bat that could improve as he matures. Rousseau also took a turn on the mound, throwing 77 mph from a high 3/4's release point with some cutting action occasionally. His off speed pitch was a big breaking slow curveball at 64 mph that was effective in getting hitters off balance. Rousseau is a hustling type ball player who plays aggressively and hard. He is also a good student.
