Marc Nellist is a 2007 RHP with a 6'2'', 195 lb. frame from Lawrenceville GA, who attends Grayson HS. He has a strong athletic body. Nellist throws from a drop and drive style but really doesn't get much power from his strong lower half, as it is more a collapse and rotate effect and Nellist ends up throwing mostly with his arm. He has a loose arm and a compact, fairly quick arm action with a low 3/4's release point. Nellist's fastball was 79-82 mph and had consistent sinking and running action to right handed hitters. His change up was his best pitch, with good deception and similar movement to his fastball at 72 mph. He got good spin on his curveball most of the time but tended to get under this pitch from his lower release point and left it flat over the plate often. Nellist does a good job mixing his pitches up and when he kept the ball down was effective with his pitching style. He could probably add some velocity with some mechanical adjustments but he might loose his movement at the same time. Nellist is a good student.
