Tyler Velde is a 2021 RHP/1B with a 6-4 160 lb. frame from Roswell, GA who attends Roswell HS. Tall, long frame with wiry strength. Frame projects to support additional strength. Primary right handed pitcher with a simple rock step to high leg lift delivery. Stays tall on back side with slight coil at gather. Works to the plate with drop and drive actions. Lands at a slightly open position on front side. Clean arm circle at take back and released from a three-quarters arm slot. Fastball flashed some downhill plane through the zone in the mid to upper 70's, topped at 78 miles per hour. Slider displayed looser spin with some sweeping action to glove side in the low 70's. Consistently looked to work to the glove side edge of the plate and work ahead of hitters. Also worked out defensively from the outfield showing aggressive footwork while closing to the baseball. Clean glove actions at pick up and worked through exchange efficiently. Throws produced occasional on line carry to the bag topping at 78 miles per hour. Left handed hitter with an balanced, slightly open stance and simple leg lift trigger. Generated some linear shift into contact with lower half. Clean hand path to contact with a slightly lifted plane through extension. Displayed solid feel for the barrel throughout the zone and employed a mid-field approach.
