Jake Dykstra is a 2019 OF/2B with a 5-7 145 lb. frame from Schererville, IN who attends Lake Central. Smaller frame with a compact, athletic build. Projects for additional size with strength. Ran a 7.31 sixty yard dash. Primary outfielder with smooth, athletic actions while closing on the baseball. Creates good momentum through the baseball with deliberate footwork. Fundamental glove actions while working through baseball with clean, quick glove to hand exchanges. Creates some carry to the bag with developing arm strength, topped at 71 mph. Right handed hitter with an open stance and toe tap trigger. Creates a slight bar when loading hands. Lower half launches to contact with linear actions producing some shift. Level, line drive swing plane through extension. Primarily uses a mid-field approach but has the barrel skills to work to all fields. Flashed some carry and backspin to the outfield gaps when squared. Tools will continue to develop with physical maturity and repetition. Good student as well.
