Adrian Mella is a 2018 OF/RHP with a 5-11 170 lb. frame from Hialeah, FL who attends Mater Academy Lakes HS. Medium frame with a strong, athletic build. Ran a 7.00 sixty-yard dash. Primary outfielder with smooth, athletic actions while closing to the baseball. Clean glove actions while funneling the baseball and working through transfer. Releases from a high energy, high three-quarters arm slot that created good downhill action to the bag topping at 88 miles per hour. Right handed hitter with a very spread, even stance. Stays balanced throughout with rotational lower half actions to contact. Hands launch on a loose, extended plane through extension that created some leverage through extension. Flashed present bat speed and strength when on time to contact with a mid-field to opposite field approach. Consistently squared up contact throughout batting practice producing hard, loud line drive contact. Also pitched showing a simple side step delivery. Gathers well at balance point and works to the plate with drop and drive lower half actions. Tends to land at a slightly closed position on front side creating some crossfire action. Gets back in line with plate well and carries momentum through finish. Deeper arm circle back at separation and released from a high three-quarters slot. Fastball jumped out of hand well with heavy actions through the zone topping at 84 miles per hour. Maintain arm speed well with a changeup offering that flashed good fading action to arm side. Curveball had 11/5 shape with good spin and deep depth when staying on top and working to the bottom of the strike zone. Repeated arm action well with all three pitches and shows the ability to work to the outside edge of the plate consistently. Named to the 2017 National Underclass East Top Prospect List.
