2019 Pitcher/Catcher Showcase
Tate Kuehner is a 2019 LHP/OF with a 6-1 180 lb. frame from Marshalltown, IA who attends Marshalltown HS. Lanky athletic build. Primary Left handed pitcher. Utilizes a small side step to high leg lift delivery using drop and drive actions down the mound while landing in line with the plate. Uses a very fast pace keeping hitters uncomfortable and off balance. Showed a medium arm action with release from an extended three-quarter arm slot. Flashed a fastball with late run at 86 miles per hour complemented by a late breaking sharp slider at 75 miles per hour. Showed good feel for a polished change up with sinking action creating a lot of swing and misses at 77 miles per hour. Displayed the ability to keep hitters off balance mixing all three pitches for a strike. Left handed hitter. Utilizes an upright stance with a high hand and back elbow set. Employs a gap to gap approach with good lift and power. Flashed good power to all fields. In games showed the ability to drive the ball with authority off live pitching. Excellent student. Named to the 2019 Pitcher/Catcher Showcase Top Prospect List.
