Alexander Kobersteen is a 2018 RHP/OF with a 6-2 160 lb. frame from Fredericksburg, VA who attends Courtland HS. Large, athletic frame with square shoulders and a long and lean, projectable build with room to fill throughout. Ran a 7.41 60-yard dash. Primary righthanded pitcher, shows nice whip action to arm through the back working to a high three-quarters release, quickness to it and does a nice job of working on top of the ball. Topped out at 87 mph and have seen harder since, loose arm action and worked down in zone well with late life, inducing ground ball contact. Maintains slot well on slider, generates late tilting life at 77 mph, nice feel for the pitch. Can mix in a third pitch with changeup, slows arm action slightly but turns it over at 77 mph. Solid arm strength from the outfield, fields the ball out front, effort at release, incorporates lower half well to work through the ball and gain momentum. Righthanded hitter, begins with a slightly open stance and uses a high leg lift trigger for timing and to get closed. High hand set, lien drive swing plane through the zone with quick hands, generates some bat speed and shows carry off the barrel when squared up. Occasionally gets to front side early and works uphill. Very good student. Verbal commitment to George Washington.
