Brian Proto is a 2017 RHP/3B, SS with a 5-11 160 lb. frame from Simsbury, CT who attends Simsbury. Medium, athletic frame with solid present build throughout and good room for additional strength. Pitches with deliberate, methodical delivery throughout, will open up front hip a bit too much and cause him to miss to arm side, FB worked 76-78 with good arm side run and late life at the plate. Throws from 3/4 slot and generates some downhill plane, FB will show some natural heaviness when down in zone. Showed slurvy breaking ball with sweeping break, good horizontal action on pitch with some depth. Hits with leg lift timing mechanism, good natural loft in swing, consistently hit the ball in the air, showed good hands to and through the zone with good rotation of hips. Fielded cleanly in the infield, waiting back on the ball and transferring from glove to hand cleanly. Throws across the IF from lower slot with solid arm strength, topping at 77 MPH. Good student.
