Frank Spano is a 2018 LHP/1B with a 6-4 190 lb. frame from Bloomingdale, NJ who attends Seton Hall Preparatory. Large, tall frame with an athletic build and broad shoulders. Projects for additional strength. Left handed pitcher with a compact, quick arm action out of glove with a slight pauses before driving to the plate. Works fastball in the low 80's with good downhill angle from and overtop arm slot. Creates good down angle due to 6'4" frame as well. Fastball has good run away from right handed hitters. Curveball has good shape with some spin and depth. Tends to slow arm action slightly with changeup offering in the mid 60's. Left handed hitter with a smooth, full swing path that creates leverage through extension. Solid carry off the barrel with solid bat speed and strength at point of contact. Creates good extension out front with the ability to drive the baseball through the gaps. Also worked out defensively from first base showing smooth, athletic actions while ranging to both sides and working around the bag. Clean glove actions while funneling ground balls out front and receive throws at the bag. Outstanding student as well. Named to 2016 Sunshine Northeast Top Prospect List.
