Jack McCluskey is a 2018 OF/LHP, 1B with a 5-11 183 lb. frame from Palm Beach, FL who attends The Benjamin School. Medium frame with a lean, athletic build. Projects to support additional strength while maintaining athleticism. Ran a 7.17 sixty-yard dash. Primary outfielder with clean, sound footwork while working to and through the baseball. Fluid glove actions through pick up and exchange. Released from a full arm action generated solid carry to the bag, topped at 80 miles per hour. Left handed hitter with a slightly crouched, open stance and high back elbow set. Shifts into contact well with linear lower half actions. Present bat speed and swung with intent on a slightly lifted plane through extension. Stays behind contact well and created hard, loud contact throughout batting practice. Flashed ability to turn barrel to contact and works to pull side with authority as well. Also pitched utilizing a simple side step to medium leg lift delivery. Smooth paced tempo to gather and works to the plate with slight drop and drive actions. Medium arm circle at separation and released from a high three-quarters arm slot. Fastball showed some sinking action with run to arm side in the mid to upper 70's, topped at 78 miles per hour. Curveball had 11/5 shape with loose spin and solid depth when staying on top of offering. Effectively filled the zone while repeating arm slot with both offerings and induced weak contact. Named to the 2017 National Academic Showcase Top Prospect List. Very good student as well.
