John Bakke is a 2017 LHP with a 6-3 170 lb. frame from Huntsville, AL who attends Huntsville HS. Tall and slender athletic build, lots of room to fill out and get stronger. Quick and compact arm action with an over the top arm slot, gets good downhill plane to his pitches, works fast and repeats his delivery well. Steady low 80's fastball, topped out at 84 mph, more velocity there with additional strength, fastball is mostly straight. Slider is a solid pitch with late biting action and good power, keeps his arm speed on the pitch well, short break but effective. Big breaking 1/7 curveball keeps hitters off balance well. Knows how to pitch and does the little things of holding runners and fielding his position well, high baseball IQ. Should keep improving. Very good student.
