Alan Mercado is a 2019 RHP with a 6-2 165 lb. frame from Barceloneta, PR who attends Carlos Beltran Baseball Academy. Tall and lanky athletic build, lots of room to get stronger. Loose arm action with a high 3/4's arm slot, stays on line well through his delivery and release, gets some downhill plane to his pitches. Fastball topped out at 87 mph, mostly straight with occasional sinking action down in the zone. Low 70's curveball had tight spin and good depth, has good feel for the pitch and uses it well to set up his fastball. Has some polish to him and will continue to improve as he gets stronger. Signed with Florida Southwestern State College.
