Justin Wells is a 2018 1B/RHP/3B with a 6-1 200 lb. frame from Canton, GA who attends Sequoyah HS. Large, athletic frame with broad shoulders, long limbs, and present strength throughout frame. Ran a 7.41 60-yard dash. Primary first baseman, fields the ball out front with two hands, accurate feeds to second and third base, long arm action through the back, stays down on the ball well, overall footwork will continue to develop. Also pitched, similar full arm action through the back, creates some deception with it while working to a high three-quarters release point. Shows some directionality to delivery, front side goes early at times, able to create extension out front with fastball that topped out at 72 mph, works across body due to strike foot landing open. Righthanded hitter, begins with a spread and event stance in the box, limited stride with lower half but employs a leg lift trigger for timing. Stays short to the ball with tight hands and stays inside throughout swing, creates line drive contact with level plane and creates consistent contact to the pull side. Stays balanced throughout swing, covers the inner half well. Good student.
