Joey Wiemer is a 2017 OF/RHP with a 6-5 205 lb. frame from Temperance, MI who attends Bedford Senior. Large frame with long limbs, broad shoulder and a strong build. Ran a 6.73 sixty-yard dash. Primary outfielder with smooth, fundamental footwork while closing to the baseball. Clean glove action while funneling and working through exchange. Long arm circle at separation and good arm strength from a three-quarters slot. Created stiff on line carry to the bag topping at 93 miles per hour. Right handed hitter with an upright, slightly open stance and simple leg lift trigger. Created some shift into contact with rotational lower half actions. Loose, extended path to contact with a lifted plane through extension. Stays balanced at the point of contact and generated good jump off the barrel with a gap to gap approach. Flashed the bat speed and hand quickness to work to pull side with authority as well in batting practice. Also pitched showing a small rock step to high leg lift delivery. Stays tall on back side at balance and works to the plate with drop and drive actions. Short arm circle at separation and released form a compact three-quarters arm slot. Fastball jumped out of hand with good downward plane through the zone topping at 90 miles per hour. Curveball had 11/5 shape with good spin and solid depth. Also flashed a changeup with occasional wiggle in the upper 70's, tends to slow arm speed slightly with changeup offering. Filled the zone consistently with developing feel for the outer edges of the plate. Very good student. Committed to Cincinnati. Named to the 2017 National Pre-Draft Top Prospect List.
