Noah Thornton is a 2017 RHP/3B, 2B with a 6-0 175 lb. frame from Hattiesburg, MS who attends Hattiesburg High School. Medium build and frame, athleticism, and room to continue to fill out physically and add strength. Primary right handed pitcher, utilized a submarine arm slot, short, compact arm action, closed landing, deception, crossfire element, fielded position well, and let the defense work. Limited lower half in stride to the plate and was efficiently around the zone. Fastball showed short sink at 69-71 mph and laid off barrels. Raised slot for curveball that showed 11/5 shape with raw depth. Relied more on sweeping slider at 59 mph with big depth and the ability to throw the pitch for strikes. Secondary infielder, developing footwork and arm strength, accuracy to the bag, and young overall actions. At the plate, started with an open stance, wide base, high hand set, and a leg lift timing mechanism. Generated torque through lower half with impressive hand speed through the zone. Linear swing plane with best contact coming up the middle and to the opposite field with carry off the barrel. Projects more so as a hitter at the next level. Very good student.
