Drew Koch is a 2018 OF/RHP, 3B with a 6-1 175 lb. frame from Rancho Santa Margarita, CA who attends Tesoro. Large frame with a solid, athletic build. Projects for additional size with strength. Ran a 7.20 sixty yard dash. Primary outfielder, aggressively closes to baseball with athletic actions. Clean glove skills while funneling with developing fluidity. Clean, extended glove to hand exchanges while working through transfer. Releases from a high three-quarters arm slot that produces accurate, on line carry to the bag topping at 83 mph. Right handed hitter with a slightly open stance and leg kick trigger. Lower half launches with linear actions generating good shift into contact. Created good bat speed with leverage through extension. Consistently squared contact to the gaps producing solid backspin and carry. Also pitched showing a long arm swing with a higher take back. Gets downhill well while driving to the plate with lower half. Creates slight wrist wrap behind body before working through finish. Fastball has occasional life ranging in the upper 70's to low 80's, topped at 81 mph. Curveball had 12/6 shape with some depth. Drops arm angle at times on curveball offering giving it more 11/5 shape. Good two way prospect that will continue to develop with maturity. Excellent student. Named to 2016 Great Lakes Showcase Top Prospect List.
