2016 West Coast Top Prospect Showcase
Kevin Wiseman is a 2017 RHP/3B with a 6-1 190 lb. frame from Fallbrook, CA who attends Linfield Christian HS. Large frame with broad shoulder and a solid, athletic build. Show present strength throughout with projection for more with continue physical development. Ran a 7.93 sixty yard dash. Primary right handed pitcher who works exclusively from the stretch. Gathers well at balance point and stays tall on backside. Leg kick is slightly above waist creating good balance with slight pause. Strides toward arm side slightly but front foot lands in line with the plate and clears hips well. Utilizes lower half well generating good push form back leg while driving. Quick, loose arm action with very good extension through finish from a three-quarters slot. Fastball has solid downward plane to the plate with occasional running action, topped at 87 mph. Commands the zone well with fastball showing the ability to spot up on each edge of the plate. Maintains arm speed with curveball offering that showed 10/5 shape with good spin and depth down in the zone. Flashed the ability to turn over changeup offering while maintaining arm speed. Mixed pitches effectively consistently keeping hitter off balance and inducing weak contact. Also worked out defensively from the infield showing compact footwork while surrounding. Clean glove actions while funneling with developing fluidity. Showed a low three-quarters arm slot that produces some carry the the bag with accuracy, topped at 83 mph. Right handed hitter with a balanced, open stance. Has present strength at contact with a line drive approach. Baseball jumped off the barrel creating very loud contact. Gets on path well while creating good extension through finish. Consistently squared up contact throughout batting practice while easily repeating mechanics. Solid two way prospect that will continue to develop with maturity and repetition. Outstanding student. Named to the 2016 West Coast Top Prospect Showcase, Top Prospect List.
