2016 Midwest Top Prospect Showcase
Bryan Truitt is a 2017 RHP/OF with a 6-2 185 lb. frame from Caledonia, IL who attends Rockford Christian Schools. Large frame with long limbs and a lean, athletic build. Projects for additional size with strength. Ran a 6.94 sixty yard dash. Primary right handed pitcher with a short side step delivery to high leg kick. Stays tall on back side at gather and utilizes lower half well while driving to the plate. Front side lands in line with the plate and carries momentum well through finish. Creates a deep arm circle at separation and releases from a loose, three-quarters arm slot. Fastball showed solid running action through the zone with heavy actions to the plate in the mid 80's, topped at 87 mph. Slider has 9/4 shape with very tight rotation and good tilt with depth. Maintained arm speed very well with slider offering that matches fastball. Also showed a changeup with solid sinking action with good run as well. Consistently filled the strike zone with fastball and produced swing and misses with both off speed pitches. Stayed smooth and fluid throughout each inning with the ability to consistently repeat release point. Good presence on the mound with a good knowledge of pitching. Also worked out defensively from the outfield showing deliberate footwork while closing to and working through the baseball. Long arm circle back at separation and releases from a three-quarters slot. Topped at 88 mph creating uphill carry to the bag with accuracy. Flashed clean glove actions while funneling the baseball with developing fluidity while working through exchange. Frame and arm action project for additional velocity on the mound. Good student as well. Named to the 2016 Midwest Top Prospect Showcase, Top prospect list.
