Jake Simpson is a 2022 OF/LHP, 1B with a 5-10 175 lb. frame from Shady Shores, TX who attends Ryan. Posted a 6.91 in the 60 yard dash. Primary OF, Medium lean build moves smoothly and covers ground. Sound actions overall with downhill intent, present arm strength with good throws on the bag. Plenty of athletic upside syncs up the footwork and easy glove with a quick transfer and release. Left-handed pitcher, very effective secondary arm. Fastball has good arm side life with some strength to it and knowledge of the zone. Efficient curveball/changeup mix, the breaking ball being the better pitch of the two with the ability to land and release with a consistent arm path. Left-handed hitter, open start lands on time with a light shift into contact. Consistently found the barrel, projects well with added strength. Good student. Named 2021 South Prospect Top Prospect.
