Christopher Lopez-Rivera is a 2018 LHP/1B/OF with a 5-10 163 lb. frame from Fort Worth, TX who attends Saginaw HS. Medium frame with a lean build. Frame projects to support additional strength. Primary left handed pitcher who worked exclusively from the stretch. Simple leg lift delivery and stays balanced on back side at gather. Creates coil over back leg and works to the plate with drop and drive actions. Lands in line with the plate and carries momentum to target well. Compact arm circle at separation and released from a high three-quarters slot. Fastball produced some downhill angle through the zone with natural cut to glove side in the mid 70's, topped at 77 miles per hour. Showed good feel for fastball offering and consistently worked to each edge of the plate. Curveball had 2/7 shape with tight spin and solid depth in the upper 60's. Also showed good feel for breaking ball with the ability to bury pitch or uses as a backdoor offering. Consistently changed speed and worked ahead of hitter early in counts. Worked out defensively from the outfield showing deliberate, smooth paced footwork while closing to and working through the baseball. Clean glove actions while funneling and released from a loose three-quarters arm slot. Throws produced some on line carry to the bag topping at 74 miles per hour. Left handed hitter with an upright, slightly open stance and simple trigger. Lower half worked to baseball with rotational lower half actions. Simple, direct hand path to baseball with a line drive plane through extension. Utilized a contact approach and looked to work the baseball to the middle of the field on a line. Very good student as well.
