Ethan McElvain is a 2023 LHP/1B with a 6-4 210 lb. frame from Thompsons Station, TN who attends Nolensville. Strong and physical athletic build. Hand drop/leg raise delivery, high hip tuck over the rubber, gets into his strong core and lower half well, maintains his lower half well to the plate, full clean arm swing in back to a 3/4's arm slot coming through, has some deception and works very quickly. Fastball topped out at 93 mph, hitters don't see his fastball well, gets nice carry up in the zone, showed the ability to dot his fastball to both sides of the plate with intent. Spotted his slider well, too, had a bigger and more effective shape at 77 mph than at 80 mph, next step in his development will be tightening up his breaking ball. Did not show a change up. Good student, verbal commitment to Vanderbilt. Named to play in the Perfect Game All-American Classic.
