Zack Swindell is a 2019 SS/RHP with a 6-2 190 lb. frame from Lubbock, TX who attends Coronado. Large frame with a strong, athletic build. Ran a 7.25 sixty-yard dash. Primary shortstop with smooth, polished footwork while traveling to and rounding the baseball. Clean glove actions while funneling out front and worked through exchange with fluidity. Good range to each side with the ability to throw with accuracy while on the run, topped at 83 miles per hour. Right handed hitter with an upright, open stance and high back elbow set. Utilized a simple front side trigger and worked to contact with rotational lower half actions. Barrel came through the zone on a naturally leveraged plane created good back spin off the barrel. Present raw strength at contact that generated hard, loud contact to the middle of the field and pull side gap when squared. Also pitched showing a simple side step to medium leg lift delivery. Slight coil over back leg at gather and works to the plate with tall and fall actions. Fastball jumped out of hand well creating running action to arm side topping at 83 miles per hour. Maintained arm speed well with a changeup offering that had 11/5 shape with tight spin and late, hard depth. Consistently changed speed while located down in the strike zone. Induced weak contact and effectively stayed off barrels while on the mound. Very good student. Named to the 2017 South Underclass Showcase, Top Prospect List.
