Ben Adams is a 2018 RHP/1B with a 6-2 168 lb. frame from Winter Haven, FL who attends Winter Haven Senior High School. Large frame, lean, slender build, athleticism, and room to continue to fill out physically. Posted a 7.22 time in the 60 yard dash. Primary right handed pitcher, rocker step start into delivery, worked downhill well, breaks hands late, drop and drive element, and threw from a high three quarter arm slot. Longer arm action that came through the top quickly and landed online. Fastball worked 73-78 mph with short arm side life and best command up and out of the zone. Curveball showed 12/6 shape with big depth and developing feel to spin. Also used a slider at 69 mph with 10/4 shape and short break. Pitched with good tempo and was effective around the zone. Also worked out at first base, showed a short arm action, fielded the ball cleanly, and showed accuracy on feeds. At the plate, started with a wide base, open stance, high hand set, and a toe tap timing mechanism. Linear swing plane with an inside out hand path. Showed gap-to-gap approach with best contact coming up the middle and to the opposite field. Developing bat speed and will continue to improve with improved swing plane through the zone. Outstanding student.
