Evan Newham is a 2018 LHP/OF with a 5-11 175 lb. frame from Gilbert, AZ who attends Campo Verde. Medium frame with slender, projectable build; ran 60 yard dash in 7.22 seconds. Primary lefthanded pitcher, good flexibility through delivery, exclusively from the stretch, long arm stroke with some timing concerns, up to overtop slot, fastball worked 73-77 mph with solid downhill plane. Flashes life to fastball. Best when extending through release. Hits from even-based stance with jerky leg lift, hands drop into swing, looseness to stroke with solid barrel skills, will improve with strength. Worked out in the outfield, quick first step with good instincts, lines ball up well, consistently solid actions, fields cleanly and showed solid arm strength clocked up to 80 mph.
