Calvin Hunt is a 2019 RHP/1B with a 6-3 175 lb. frame from Arvada, CO who attends Ralston Valley Senior. Large frame with long limbs and wiry strength. Frame projects to support additional size and strength. Primary right handed pitcher with a simple, small side step to high light lift delivery. Stays tall on back side at gather and worked to the plate with drop and drive actions. Tends to lands at a slightly closed position creating some cross fire at release. Quick arm circle and released from a three-quarters slot. Showed developing feel for a fastball that produced some downhill plane in the low to mid 80's, topped at 85 miles per hour. Curveball had 11/5 shape with solid spin and good depth in the upper 60's. Showed best mix of location and movement when staying in tempo and repeating mechanics. Also worked out defensively from the outfield showing smooth paced footwork while closing to and working through the baseball. Funnels baseball off to side and works through exchange with developing fluidity. Long, loose arm stroke at release and created solid carry to the bag topping at 89 miles per hour. Right handed hitter with an open stance and high back elbow set. Utilized a toe tap trigger while moving into contact. Loose, line drive barrel plane through extension and flashed solid bat speed while turning the barrel head to contact. Displayed present pop to the gaps but also showed the barrel feel to work to all fields. Named to the 2018 Rocky Mountain Showcase Top Prospect List.
