Joe Lopez is a 2020 RHP/OF with a 6-1 150 lb. frame from Spring, TX who attends Klein Collins High School. Incredibly young player with a medium frame, lean, slender build, athleticism, and room to continue to fill out physically and add strength. Posted a 7.60 time in the 60 yard dash. Primary right handed pitcher, high leg raise past belt, pauses at balance point, lands online, works from the middle of the rubber, full arm action, and threw from a tight three quarter arm slot. Limited drive to the plate and cuts off momentum. Fastball worked 78-80 mph very consistently working both sides of the plate. Fastball worked mostly true and cut slightly when working glove side. Curveball showed 12/6 shape from slightly raised slot with good depth and threw the pitch consistently for strikes. Repeated arm action well with athleticism through delivery. Also worked out from the outfield, compact arm action, relied mostly on arm strength, with accurate throws to bag. At the plate, showed a loose swing from the right side with limited stride to the ball. Swing worked primarily through hands and flashed quickness. Made consistent contact to pull side. Will continue to improve at the plate with additional lower half incorporation.
