Jayden Mercado is a 2025 UT with a 5-10 155 lb. frame from Jersey City, NJ who attends James J Ferris. Slender young build with lots of room to get stronger. 7.77 runner in the sixty. Worked out in both the infield and outfield with similar tools and actions, plays low and through the ball on the infield with good glove actions, showed his athleticism well, has some first step quickness on the dirt as well. Has a quick and compact arm action in the outfield that played well with good carry, fielded the ball cleanly with a one hand gather. Plays defense with energy. Switch-hitter at the plate, has a similar stance and set up from both sides, starts open with a medium leg lift trigger and a comfortable hand set, has more present bat speed and barrel control from the left side, turns harder and gets into his core well from this side. Right handed swing has some extension and whip through the ball. Will improve from both sides with additional strength. Good student.
