Daniel Vazquez is a 2019 C/RHP/1B with a 6-1 200 lb. frame from Bayamon, PR who attends Puerto Rico Baseball Academy. Large frame with broad shoulders and beginnings of strength. Primary catcher with a wide, balanced stance. Gains some in line direction to the bag while working out of crouch. Displayed developing fluidity while working through exchange and released from a three-quarters arm slot. Throws produced uphill carry to the bag topping at 67 miles per hour, best workout pop time of 2.33. Also worked out defensively from first base showing smooth paced footwork while centering the baseball. Bounced off the bag quickly and funneled out front. Loose, extended arm action at release topping at 67 miles per hour. Right handed hitter who worked exclusively from the stretch. High leg lift and worked to a closed from side position. Compact arm circle at take back and released from a three-quarters arm slot. Fastball came out of hand cleanly creating some downhill plane in the low to mid 70's, topped at 74 miles per hour. Slider showed 10/5 shape with occasional tilt to glove side. Also flashed a cutting changeup in the upper 60's. Primarily looked to challenge hitters to the bottom of the zone and induce weak contact. Good student as well.
