Brenden Matthews is a 2020 1B/ with a 5-11 210 lb. frame from Douglasville, GA who attends South Paulding. Large and sturdy frame. Ran a 7.41 second 60 yard dash. Primary first baseman, fields the baseball out in front with developing hands, does have a very quick turn to second base, topped out at 70 mph from first base. Also worked out in the infield, similar actions as at first base, young footwork creating uphill carry to throws, will improve arm strength across with added momentum carried into throws with lower half. Righthanded hitter, glides into contact with some lower half involvement to stroke, swings with intent, bat speed and strength present through the hitting zone, the ball jumps when squared. Good student.
