Michael Nelson is a 2021 LHP/1B/OF with a 6-2 168 lb. frame from Delray Beach, FL who attends Elev8 Sports Institute. Slender frame with a wiry build and lots of room to fill out. Primary lefthanded pitcher who only threw during the event. Slow and low effort delivery with a small pivot turn and a waist high leg lift. Smaller arm circle in the back and throws from an over the top arm slot. Stays online with his target and gets the ball going downhill. Straight fastball that topped out at 74 mph and worked to both sides of the plate. Replicates arm speed on the changeup and likes to use it as the primary secondary offering. Flashed a big breaking 12/6 curveball with some depth to it. Can improve with additional lower half involvement in the delivery. Good student.
