John Dominguez is a 2018 RHP/IF with a 5-10 154 lb. frame from Leander, TX who attends Rouse HS. Medium frame with a lean, athletic build and wiry strength. Ran a 7.96 sixty yard dash. Primary right handed pitcher with a well balanced, leg lift delivery. Smooth paced, clean arm action from a high three-quarters arm slot. Baseball jumps out of hand very clean generating heavy, deceptive velocity through the zone. Fastball created solid downward angle to the plate with some running action between 82-84 miles per hour. Curveball showed good rotation with late, sharp bite down in the strike zone. Will lower arm slot at times with curveball offering creating a more slurved shape. Tends to slow arm speed slightly with a changeup offering that flashed some late fading action to arm side in the mid 70's. Consistently filled the zone with all three pitches with solid command to the edges of the plate. Also worked out defensively form the infield showing a low, squared set while surrounding the baseball. Flashes solid first step quickness with developing range to each side while on the run. Funnels the baseball cleanly out front with efficient glove to hand exchanges while working through transition. Can change arm angles, but primarily releases from an extended slot that generates on line, accurate carry to the bag topping at 75 miles per hour. Right handed hitter with a spread, event stance and high back elbow set. Shifts into contact with linear action and a large leg lift trigger. Hands slide to a slightly lower launching position at load and launch on a compact, line drive plane through extension. Primarily works with a gap to gap approach while swinging with intent to drive the baseball. Flashed solid hand and barrel skills when front side trigger was on time and maintained balance through finish. Good student. Named to the National Underclass South Showcase Top Prospect List.
